Hi and thank you for visiting The Healing Room.  I hope that the information that I am offering will help you determine which therapy will benefit you best.   Massage therapy and Reiki are each individual therapies that are very different as massage therapy addresses your musculature and Reiki addresses your body's energy systems.  However, combining these therapies in one session became the most requested session yet and I call it the "duo" session.
 

I began my career as a professional bodyworker after the premature birth of my daughter in 1996.  I instinctively began to lay my hands over her with a "knowing" that I was "healing" her.  I had no previous training nor did I know what I was doing.  Although, most of my career had been working in the medical field and I knew I had a love for it, I had never worked as a therapist.  Laying my hands was not something I had done before and yet I was moved in some mysterious way.  It was an innate ability of mine that had been induced by my daughter's needs.  I then began to expand the use of this "gift" to my family and friends.  Everyone experienced it differently; however, the one common feeling they shared was that it was very relaxing and balancing.

I received Reiki training back in 2001 and became a Reiki Master/Teacher.  By this time, I had already offered many "Reiki" sessions without really calling it Reiki.  I then was motivated to receive traditional Usui training and was initiated by Hyakuten Inamoto.  This lead to the incorporation of The Healing Room, Inc. in 2003.  I opened my office in Coral Gables, Florida.

Today, over 15 years later, I am a professional Reiki practitioner and a Licensed Massage Therapist.  I am nationally certified  by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork “NCBTMB”.  I am a member of the American Holistic Nurses Association, the International Reiki Association in the UK and the International Training Reiki Center “ICRT”.

I am also certified in Oncology massage which I felt I needed after offering Reiki as a complement to oncology patients going through treatment. My oncology clients all receive a combination of therapeutic massage therapy and Reiki energy therapy.

In addition, I am certified in Prenatal/Pregnancy massage and really enjoy this kind of work due to its constant shifting as the mother-to-be advances through the cycles.  In this session, I like to combine the massage with Reiki as it helps to balance the hormonal changes that the mother-to-be is experiencing.
